Geriatric Behavioral Health and Wellness Services at Natchez Regional Medical Center is aware that the decision of how, when and what type of help to seek can be a difficult one for both the patient and the family. We assist you by providing a free, confidential assessment to determine the course of treatment best suited for the situation.

Inpatient Treatment
Our Inpatient Program provides services in a secure, 12 bed unit located on the third floor of Natchez Regional Medical Center.  Our services are targeted to individuals challenged with overwhelming situations and need assistance in managing life changes.  Often these individuals show signs of depression, confusion, social withdrawal or aggressive behavior.  We provide a safe and structured environment for those struggling in their current setting.

Treatment and Support
The BHU treatment team is focused on providing the best care to every patient admitted.  The treatment plan is based on several psychiatric and medical evaluations and is adjusted and reviewed continually during the medical stay.  This program is designed to address the specific needs of each patient in order to best prepare for a successful discharge to an appropriate environment. BHU encourages family, caregiver, and/or referral source involvement.  These relationships help determine the level of independence the individual will be able to maintain upon discharge.

Referral and Admission
Natchez Regional BHU strives to make the referral and admission process a quick and pleasant experience.  It is our goal to make the patient, family members, and referral sources at ease while transitioning into our program.

Simply call and speak to one of our professionals about admission into our program.  The pre-screening process will determine the level of care needed.  In some cases, a clinical evaluator will provide on-sight screening.  Our program coordinator and members of the Medical Staff will make the determination for admission.  The admission number is 601-443-2365.

Patients may admit from skilled nursing facilities; nursing care centers; hospitals; emergency rooms; outpatient programs and clinics; and home.  Payor sources include Medicare, Private Insurance, Managed Care Benefits and Private Pay.  Financial arrangements will be verified and pre-authorization for admission will be obtained prior to admission.
