LANA MORGAN, RN, AS INTERIM VICE PRESIDENT OF NURSING
Rosie Williams-Smith Resigns as VP of Nursing
Scott Phillips, CEO of Natchez Regional Medical Center, announced with regret the unexpected resignation of Rosie Williams-Smith as the Vice President of Nursing. “Mrs. Smith tendered her resignation effective Friday, May 9,” added Phillips. “This was strictly a voluntary decision on her part, and she was asked to reconsider over the weekend and withdraw her resignation. Mrs. Smith indicated that this decision was final, and we will respect her decision,” continued Phillips. The Board of Trustees, along with hospital leadership and employees, commend Mrs. Smith for her years of valuable service and dedication to Natchez Regional Medical Center. “We wish to thank her for her contributions to this hospital,” said Phillips.
Moving forward, Natchez Regional Medical Center is pleased to announce that Lana Morgan, RN, has agreed to step in as the Interim Vice President of Nursing. “Mrs. Morgan comes highly recommended from her colleagues, as well as Board of Trustee members; and we are very pleased that she has accepted this position,” stated Phillips.
Mrs. Morgan has over 25 years experience in the healthcare profession. She received her undergraduate degree in Nursing from the University of Southern Mississippi and her Masters in Nursing Education from the University of Mississippi Medical Center. The past five years, Mrs. Morgan has done an outstanding job as the hospital’s Joint Commission liaison by ensuring Natchez Regional Medical Center is continuously demonstrating our commitment to patients’ safety and quality care.
Dan Bland, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Natchez Regional, echoes Mr. Phillips pleasure at Mrs. Morgan’s acceptance of this position. “Anyone that knows Lana understands her desire for professionalism and her intelligence to step into this role and provide the leadership and expertise needed to help move our hospital forward,” added Bland.
