Natchez Regional Medical Center is proud to be the only hospital in the area with a comprehensive cardiovascular program that offers heart catheterization, a chest pain center, 64 slice CT scanner and cardiac rehabilitation all located in the same facility.
|
64 Slice CT Scan - The LightSpeed VCT, the world's first Volume CT system, is the latest innovation in computed tomography (CT) technology. The 64 slice scanner offers the ability to provide a comprehensive view of the heart and coronary arteries with submillimeter resolution in just seven heartbeats.
Chest Pain Center: Because time is so critical during a heart attack, Natchez Regional Medical Center operates The Chest Pain Center, a special cardiac unit located within the emergency department that monitors patients with chest pain so physicians can make an early diagnosis to prevent a heart attack.
Heart Station: Diagnostic Services offered include:
Cardiac Stress Testing: - A patient's heart rate is monitored while he or she walks on a treadmill. If unable to walk, intravenous medications can be used to evaluate cardiac blood supply. This test helps the physician evaluate the fitness of the heart and blood supply system.
Echocardiograms - Sound waves are used to record the heart's internal structure. Physicians often use this procedure to identify damage to the cardiac valves and to measure the size and shape of the heart. Adding color to the echocardiogram shows the direction of blood flow to help detect valvular disease.
Electrocardiograms (EKG) - This test records the electrical activity of the heart. | | |
Holter Monitor - This is a recording unit worn around the patient's neck or waist. This device monitors and records a patient's heartbeat wile they assume their normal activities for a 24-hour period. It allows the patient to have mobility, while gathering valuable test data.
Cardiac Catheterization Lab (Cath Lab) - This is the most comprehensive diagnostic procedure available for the early detection of many life-threatening heart problems. Services performed routinely in the Cath Lab are angiograms, pacemakers and defibrillators.
 | | Cardiac Rehabilitation - This program helps make hearts strong again and reduce the risk for heart disease. Staffed by registered nurses, dietitians and respiratory therapists, the team customizes an exercise program complete with nutrition guidelines, stress management techniques and smoking cessation counseling. The overall goal is to help modify the risk factors related to heart disease and to develop a personalized plan to help each patient achieve their maximum potential for heart health. |
