The Registered Nurse in the Emergency Room setting provides triage and assessment of all patients presenting for treatment. The Registered Nurse then coordinates the care of the patient and family teaching and provides leadership by working cooperatively with ancillary nursing and other patient team personnel in maintaining standards for professional nursing practice in the Emergency Room.

The Emergency Room Registered Nurse must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care on his/her unit based on physical, psycho/social, education, safety and related criteria for the neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric population.
